In Flight Success Academy
for Independent Living (I-SAIL)
In Flight, Inc. is committed to delivering a customized modular training and education program to promote and support self-direction and achievement of personal aspirations for employment, an improved cultural life and a fulfilling social life; along with experience with commuting, keeping house and the daily chores and responsibilities of living independently. Through I-SAIL, IDD individuals will be encouraged to self-manage and develop social skills needed for community and employment integration.
I-SAIL is designed to concentrate on what is important to the individual and their personal goals; to focus on building skills, relationships and natural supports which have as their outcome, the individual’s integration into community life coupled with a well-developed circle of support.
I-SAIL will include collaborations with other organizations within the community and cater to a diverse range of ages and abilities including:
• Mature adults with I/DD who have been living in IRAs
• Younger adults in 20s and 30s with I/DD living in their family’s home
• Youth with I/DD transitioning out of high school
There is a need for social management training, behavioral rehearsal, self-reinforcement, problem-solving training, and assertiveness training. We plan to provide concentration on this type of social skills training in order to help our candidates overcome difficulties in performing valued adult roles and the negative impacts of functional limitations on expressing behaviors needed for success in community based settings.
